christmas present...

Just in time for Christmas, I got 16,046 words into the book! And, as an added bonus, a little tidbit from Chapter Six:

Needless to say, I was upset and I was bored. I spent some time surfing the internet and checking my email, but nothing really captured my limited attention span. What I really wanted to do was go back downstairs, where I could still hear Brett banging pans around and trying to find something new for the menu before tourist season started up, and apologize. I knew if I did, though, that he wouldn’t take me seriously.

So I hugged my stuffed panda that he had won me at my first carnival and felt miserable some more. I never wanted to get further involved in Brett’s world, and yet here it seemed I was. Here, among others like him. Or others not even like him, others that were something far different. I had no idea, since Dorian’s order had prevented Brett from telling me.

Ch-Ch-Ch Changes Part 2

Okay, so I lied. Another change -

Only creatures in the book now? Humans, werewolves, Fae and immortals. Not going to say who's what now, though. :)

Ch-ch-ch Changes!

So, just a little heads-up about some changes I've made:

Due to so many comments about parallels between "Twilight" and "Au Revior" I have changed some of the characteristics of some characters.

-Brett's a werewolf, was bitten several years before the story starts
-Joel isn't a vampire anymore, he's a werewolf

I'll let you know if anything else monumental shifts.

In other news - I just reached 15,000 words sometime around ten last night!

teaser #1

I took the book from his hand, paper falling out of it as I touched it.

There were pages and pages.

I couldn’t even imagine how many, at least a good chunk out of my notebook. There were symbols I couldn’t understand, letters I couldn’t name. I looked to Joel, his eyes rapt and calculating.

“What is this?”

His eyes seemed more world-weary than usual, but the hint of laughter had crept back into them. “Memories, Ash. Memories of all the things we’ve done together. You wrote them.”

I just stared at him. “There’s no way I wrote these. I don’t even know what they say.”

“You might not, but your soul does. I taught the Tongues to Juliana once, and that’s what these are written in.”

How can you write something in a language that you didn’t even know you knew, and then be writing about things you don’t even remember experiencing? I wondered, studying the papers.

welcome!

I've started this blog as a way to chronicle my novel as it's written. So far, I've gotten around 13,000 words and hope to be finished around February of 2010.

I hope you enjoy this, and I hope we all see it through to publication!

synopsis

Well, so she thought.
Turns out there’s something far more sinister than she could imagine lying just beneath his perfect green eyes. Joel’s part of an ancient organization, the Jareth, and they’re not the only baddies out there. Besides Joel, another, far more horrifying, group is creeping out of the shadows to steal Ashling as their own.
What would you do if your soul was not yours to fight for anymore?
Ashling Smithson is a normal girl. Normal, that is, until she meets the mysterious Joel Tariq. He’s everything she could have dreamed of – a best friend, gentleman, and boyfriend all rolled up in one amazing person.
